Youth Concert in Salisbury, MD
22 Young People
Young musicians from the Eastern Shore of Maryland will be combining their efforts and abilities to create a unique experience for their audience. Classics for a Cause: Youth supporting Youth, Youth Supporting the Arts, will commence tonight, November 8, 2019, 7pm, at Asbury United Methodist Church in Salisbury, MD. Twenty-two young people will sing and play music of classical and modern composers to fundraise for the Arts.
Talent Beyond Their Years
The depth of their talents will marvel the viewers. We encourage you to go and support these wonderful performers, all of which have not graduated high school yet. Some have not graduated elementary school. The youngest performer will be, Jonathan Zapuche-Lineres at 9 years old. This is not a recital for parents to enjoy their children, this is a concert of musicians; awe-inspiring because their age does not reflect their aptitude.
Singers and Instrumentalists
Timeless moving songs such as “My Heart Will Go One” will be sung. Instrumental pieces by composers through the centuries including classics like Beethoven, Chopin, & Mozart will be played. One song will be played by its composer, Gracie Elswick, a junior at Parkside High School. The love for music is evident in every one of these young people.
Responsive and Energizing Venue
The venue is as stimulating as the performances. Cathedral ceilings in the Methodist Church magnify and enhance the beautiful songs the musicians perform. The windows on the left side of the sanctuary run almost as tall as the pillars that sit before the pulpit. An immense menagerie of organ pipes sits above the main floor at balcony level. If you have not been inside Asbury UMC before, the sanctuary alone will be a treat.
Grand Exit
Of course the pinnacle of the evening will be the finale, a distinctive interpretation of Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven” written by Jimmy Page and Robert Plant, and performed by Dade Walker (bass), Erik Holmer (guitar), Therese Hamilton (flute), William White (drums.) The night will certainly appeal to a myriad of listeners and their musical stylings.
