The Worcester County Arts Council is pleased to announce winners in the juried art exhibit themed: “Small Wonders”. This exhibition features 30 pieces of artwork submitted by 21 professional or amateur artists, with work in all media.
Although the subject of this show was open to artist’s individual inspiration and interpretation, the main objective of this show was to encourage and challenge artists to become involved in the exciting world of miniature art.
The guidelines required works not to exceed 7 inches for 3-dimensional works and 11 inches for 2-dimensional works. Despite the size limitation, artists submitted works that incorporate a diverse range of materials to communicate this thoughtful concept.
This exhibition combines many mediums including oil, watercolor, and acrylic painting, drawing, pastels, photography, mixed media, and glass and wood sculptures.
The winning artwork was selected by accomplished local artist, Angela Herbert – Hodges. The winners were honored at the opening reception held on November 11 at the Arts Council Gallery.
Brigitte Bowden won first prize for her watercolor painting, “Southern Skies”. Peggy Warfield placed second for vintage collage “Leaped, Shouted, and Laughed”, and Jason Giusti won third prize for “Minuto”, glass sculpture.
Honorable mention awards were given to Myrna McGrath for acrylic painting “Splash II”, Stan Brua for “Overflowing”, woodturning sculpture, and Adolph Bucci for his photograph titled “Pink”.
The exhibit will continue to be on display until December 31st.
Gallery hours are Monday thru Friday, 11 am to 3 pm. Saturday by chance.
